Jen Henry's Wedding

This weekend we had such a great time going to Nova Scotia for Jen's wedding! (Nat- it also made me sad that I missed yours because I was so sick:( Anyways- what a great party! It was totally Jen and AJ style- the guys all wore brown sweaters- only AJ had a collar under his- and all the bridesmaids wore cotton brown summer dresses- so sweet!
Jennifer looked so gorgeous in a 3/4 lenth strapless dress and white flip flops! (Fashion File or what?:) Her dad and grampie walked her down the aisle, and pastor AJ who was also dressed casually did the wedding.
After they were pronounced husband and wife everyone cheered! It was awesome, and sooo nice to be at this sweet friend's special day! Scott and I love them both, and love them together- it was a real joy to see them get hitched!:)
After the wedding they had great food- BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, salads, and then warm cider and fruit trays for dessert! Oh and skittles were the wedding favors- I switched some of mine with Graeme's- don't tell:)
They had Anthony Liberatore was the MC, and he introduced all the speeches and also all the different people who played music- it was very coffee house style. Scott and I sang "Such Great Heights" and "So Happy Together", both of which we sang at our wedding last summer- awwww:).
It was also great to see people who I haven't seen for ages- and catch up with some old friends!
Scott and I sat at a table with Graeme and Diana Higgs, Nick and Jessica Miller and their son, and Nick's brother Luke.
I also got to catch up with Dave and Jonathan Bryant, Naomi Hunter (Maid of Honor) and her boyfriend Matt, Jen Spencer (Bridesmaid), Owen, and Nathan and Erin Doucette (Erin and I went to High School together) and Scott was glad to catch up with friends Bryan Weins (they were friends since grade 3) and his girlfriend Sasha, and Dan Freeman. And, of course, it was awesome to see Jen and AJ- so in love, and commiting their lives to each other! Yeah for love!:)
So, after chatting it up- listening to some great live music, eating yummy food and seeing two of our friends married in a beautifully simple wedding that was totally them, we headed to the Kohler's for the night and then drove home this morning. BUT not before a quick visit to see our good friends Matt and Christine Walsh and their babes in Fall River! It was SO nice to see them and get to just visit with them for a while. We really miss our valley friends!:( So all in all- we had a wonderful visit home- though not quite long enough, enough time for a short visit with Scott's parents and my Nanny! Well- so you're dying to see some photos- so here's the gallery- enjoy!:

Rice Crispies

So I made some of the squares and have eaten way too many of them...ugh. In other Kohler news, I finally went to Wed night Bible study where we studied the 4th chapter of Micah. I brought some of my squares so I wouldn't eat all of them. Tomorrow pm we head to my fave city- Hali-to attend Jen and AJ's wedding on Friday! I'm so excited to see them, and to be there for this huge life event for them. I'm looking forward to it. Today I went for a walk around the village and enjoyed the smells and feel of autumn. Everybody's been saying it, but it's such a wonderful time of year! Not too cold- fresh, crisp, cozy, and beautiful, esp. in NB with all the trees around! The drive tomorrow should be nice! Bye for now- others of you- we'll see ya in Hali!

Since I haven't taken any fall pics yet this year, I thought it'd be fun to recap LAST fall. One of the highlights of autumn last year was attending a 'Couple's Retreat' with our church- Kentville Baptist- along with our good friends Devin and Lenore. It was SO much fun, and I desperately wish we could go this year with them- but our church sched. just doesn't allow for it this year. We miss our valley friends!

Campfire at the Retreat- a campfire smells like fall, no?

Titles

Hey there! After I posted the last blog and got Scott to read it he was like, "It's great... only the title of the sermon was a little different."
I thought it sounded too harsh!
Anyways, turns out it's wasn't "Are you listening?" but "How's your hearing?"
Ah- that's better:)
This whole thing struck me as really funny- so I thought I'd share it:)

Paris and Preaching

Hey Y'all! I thought I'd put some of these Parisian pics up here. These are a snapshot of our 3 days there. It was our favorite city of the whole trip for both of us- we loved it! So enjoy. Following that are my thoughts on Scott's sermon today- titled "Are you listening?" Interest peaked?....But first- Paris!!

Scott and Chris- we were all tired of the subway at this point:)

Our New Look

So I was getting kinda bored with the greyishness of out blog template- so I decided to switch it up a bit! I also can't sleep which is why I'm making these seemingly important changes to our site in the middle of the night...Not much new around here...Scott is getting ready for the youth group's first meet sat. night- the Amazing Pizza Race- that should be fun! And all kinds of other fall stuff that's starting up. I'd know more, but I've been under the weather so haven't been to all the stuff that's going on.

I have to say that fall is a beautiful time of year. I love how it looks, feels, and smells in the fall. We've been taking lots of walks, and seeing McAdam kids everywhere- I guess school brings them all out of the woodwork. Well- that's all for now- I'll post a random picture now. Night!

Danielle, Rick and baby Elliot

Two nights ago we had a visit from Danielle and Rick and their little girl- Elliot Carabin! They were in the area with some other friends and so were able to come see us- we were very happy to see them and the baby, as well as have them spend the night with us. They left early the next morning, and Elliot slept thru the whole night! Thanks for coming to visit, guys!!:)

To all the Faithfuls:)

Hey there- this post is of some old pictures from when I was in Hali last month- but for all you faithfuls, who daily check friends' blogs- I thought I'd put something new on here even though there's not much to blog about at the moment:)

Me and Nanny at Point Pleasant Park (PPP)- Ain't she a beauty?

This was so cute. At the park there was a mother cat and like 5 little kittens who live right in/on the rocks at the park entrance. I sat and watched them for a while until they were jumping and play fighting right next to me 'cause they didn't notice me anymore. A lady comes sometimes to give them shots and stuff, and people had food and water dishes out for them. SO cute: here's my fave kitten:

Nanny Days!

Recently, when I was in Halifax for a few days, my nanny and I were able to do some hanging out. One day her best friend Edna joined us and we went down to the water front to check out the American Coastguard Ship- a class C tall ship (very big)- The Eagle. On the way we saw the new Starbucks on Spring Grd. Rd. FINALLY! I've been wondering for years when they were gonna put one on this street- but I didn't think it'd be here where the RBC used to be, but hey!

I like this picture- it reminds me so much of NS and it's maritimeness:)

10 Days Back in Nova Scotia!

We had quite a trip! Me and Scott, and a couple from our church, Andrew and Shirlu, all went to the Atlantic Baptist Convention in Wolfville, NS (where we lived last year for school!). The convention was made up of music, business meetings, workshops, messages and more. We had a great 5.5 hour drive down with Andrew and Shirlu- including a stop at Scott's dad's church in Lake Echo, which has just been thru a mjr renovation!

Bored in the car, eating my water bottle

We spent the first night at the Kohler's, and Papa Kohler had been working all day-week-month-I'm not sure- on removing this stump in the backyard.

He wanted to do some gardening and the stump was really getting in the way- so he hired a "come-a-long" to try and yank in out of the ground. Scott determined the danger of the situation and set up this ladder and door system in case the chain broke due to pressure...thankfully it didn't...but we were prepared!

Finally, the stump came up so far out of the ground, Scott, dad and I hung onto the chain and it flipped right over! Victory! Mama caught some sweet pics, too!:):)

As soon as we drove in to Wolfville- look who we saw! Nick Schoffield has been working with muslims in the middle east for the past year and is going back again for another year. It was great to see ya, Nick! We'll be prayin' for ya!

Then, of course, we had a visit with the Walshes! It was great to see them and to catch up. Here's Elijah and Scott- maybe Scott wants an ice cream, too?
